Jake Estes

 

Jake is the owner of Estes Law Office, P.L.L.C., one of the leading young estate planning and probate law firms in North Texas, with offices in Frisco, Texas (principal office) and McKinney, Texas.  Jake has represented clients all across the state of Texas for almost 20 years.  His practice is specifically limited to estate planning, probate administration, fiduciary litigation, guardianship, and business entity formation.

 

Previous to opening Estes Law Office, P.L.L.C. in 2014, Jake was an estate planning and probate associate attorney at The Law Office of M. Todd Estes, P.C. in Sherman, Texas.

In addition to this experience, Jake had the pleasure of serving as an Assistant District Attorney at the Grayson County District Attorney’s Office, prosecuting felony cases in the 59th District Court before the Honorable Rayburn Nall.  While at the District Attorney's office, Jake obtained guilty verdicts in over 80 criminal jury trials.

 

Jake is a member of the State Bar of Texas, American Bar Association, Collin County Bar Association, Grayson County Bar Association, Paul Brown American Inn of Court, Grayson County Young Lawyer’s Association, McKinney Young Lawyer's Association, McKinney Chamber of Commerce, McKinney Young Professionals and the North Texas Young Professionals.

 

As President of Grayson County Young Lawyers Association, Jake instituted and coordinated a local program called "Wills for Heroes", which provided free Wills to law enforcement officers and their spouses at the Grayson County Sheriff's Department.

 

Jake was Chairman of the Board of Directors for Goodwill Industries of Northeast Texas and also served on the Board of Directors for the Estate Planning & Probate Section of the Collin County Bar Association, The Rehabilitation Center in Sherman, Texas and the Sherman Chamber of Commerce in Sherman, Texas.

Jake is frequently asked to present seminars to businesses, charities and other organizations in the North Texas area on topics such as intestacy (dying without a Will), probate administration in Texas, living trust scams and various estate planning topics.  The most requested seminar is entitled, "Where There's A Will, There's a Way," which addresses the importance of having a proper Will and powers of attorney for individuals and families who live in Texas.

 

Jake received his Bachelor of Arts degree at Austin College in 1999 and was also a member of the Austin College Lacrosse team.  He received his Juris Doctor degree from Texas A&M University School of Law (formerly Texas Wesleyan School of Law) in 2003 and was a member of the international law fraternity Delta Theta Phi.  Jake was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 2004.
